BN- THE Mongols bikie gang boss has denied the outlaw gang is “patching up” recruits in jail.

The national president of Mongols Nation, Mark Moroney — widely known as “Ferret” — said neither killer George Marrogi nor influential prison figure Mohammad Akbar Keshtiar were recruits.

Marrogi, 26, who breached parole months after being freed from jail, has convictions for manslaughter and recklessly causing serious injury.

Close associate Keshtiar, 43, has been refused parole even though he is coming to the end of a sentence for the attempted murder of two people.

A third man, on bail over allegations relating to a heroin syndicate and who was placed in an immigration detention centre on Tuesday, was also dismissed as no longer having anything to do with the gang.

Ferret said his club’s constitution did not allow patching up members in prison.

“We deny George Marrogi is a member of the Mongols Nation,’’ Ferret said.

“He has never been a member. We do not recruit members in prison.’’

Keshtiar, known as “Afghan Ali’’, was refused parole following prison intelligence about his involvement with the gang.

It is believed Marrogi, who returned to jail after breaching parole, is alleged to have sided with another outlaw bikie gang.

Several relatives and associates are Comancheros.

Ferret said though recruiting does occur in jail, all potential members had to prospect for 12 months, have a motorcycle licence, and own a bike before membership was offered.

But he believes Keshtiar’s reputed link to the club has damaged his parole prospects.

“We believe it’s keeping him locked up in jail.

“It’s unfortunate, because he is not a member of our club,’’ Ferret said.
