While Jax Teller didn't get to ride off into the sunset in the series finale of Sons of Anarchy, it looks like the Sons will be going for one more ride.
Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter is officially developing a spin-off series slated for FX, this time about the Mayans motorcycle club.
Few details are known about the untitled Sons spin-off, but we hope to see the return of some familiar faces.
In the hit FX series, the Mayans were in control of northern California and most of Nevada, led by Marcus Alvarez (played by Emilio Rivera). The mainly Hispanic and Mexican club was depicted as on-again, off-again rivals to SAMCRO, and were known for their heroin factories and involvement in prostitution.
After the turf wars were settled, the Mayans eventually became allies to SAMCRO, thanks to Gemma's main man and Latin lover, Nero Padilla — who served as a middle man to keep the peace.
The MC has the cuts that feature the phrase "Los Asesinos de Dio," or Assassins of God, with the real-life tribal symbol of the Mongols MC as its insignia.
Sutter will only be serving as the show's executive producer, as he focuses on his latest series The Bastard Executioner, which premieres on September 15. While the new show is a medieval drama, fans of Sons might enjoy the character similarities between the Executioner and Jax Teller. Sons alum Katey Sagal will co-star in the series.
There have been rumors swirling about a prequel to Sons of Anarchy, with Sutter himself teasing the idea at San Diego Comic-Con last month. It's not yet known if the Mayan spin-off will be a prequel, or return to where we left off.
Still, as fans, we can't wait to take one more ride in the Anarchy universe.

Sons of Anarchy ended in 2014 with a record 9.2 million viewers tuning in for the series finale.
The Mayans series will be produced by Fox 21 Television Studios and FX Productions, airing on FX.
