Brandon James Gann, 30, should be considered armed and dangerous, San Joaquin County sheriff's Detective Lawrence Gardiman said.
"He has a long history of associating with outlaw motorcycle groups," Gardiman said.
At the time of the shooting, Gann was a known associate of the Hells Angels Nomads. He has lived in Oakdale and Redding, but detectives said his whereabouts are unknown. He has relatives and friends in Modesto.
The shooting was in retaliation against a rival motorcycle gang, Gardiman said.
About 6:30 p.m. Aug. 15, detectives say Danny Martinez, 26, of Lathrop and another man were shot while outside a business in the 17000 block of Ideal Parkway, off Highway 120 east of Manteca.
The shooting victims were full patch members of the Most Envied Motorcycle Club. The second man survived his injuries.
Gann is described as 6 feet tall, 245 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.
