Hells Angels gathering on tap for summer? - Fosters: "We knew it was a possibility,' said Moyer, adding that law enforcement agencies, which consider the Hells Angels to be an outlaw motorcycle gang (OMG), have been aware for several months that Laconia was one of several sites being eyed for the World Run, which is expected to draw upward of 1,000 attendees. Moyer said he anticipated a quiet World Run, just like in 2003 when the event took place over a period of four days.

Moyer and other law enforcement officials are not reacting with alarm, but said that police will be prepared to deal with any trouble should it occur.

Ed Shaughnessy, a senior member of the Hells Angels' NH Nomads chapter, was unavailable for comment Wednesday, but City Manager Eileen Cabanel said she had recently spoken with him about the World Run and the possibility of the Hells Angels using some municipal property for motorcycle parking.

Each year, according to authorities, the World Run brings together two representatives from every Hells Angels chapter for what is described as a business meeting.

In 2003, Attorney P. Scott Bratton, who periodically has represented the Hells Angels' NH Nomads chapter, characterized the World Run eight years ago as something that 'should be beneficial to the local economy and there should be no need for alarm in the community.'"
